Subaru Forester turbo models were added to the list of approved models under transitional SEVS arrangements on 2 April 2020.

The ruling covers the October 2002 to December 2007 range of Subaru Forester SG9 STi 2.5L turbo as well as the 2.0L turbo Cross Sports and XT models with automatic and manual transmission.
Australians have been waiting to import Subaru Forester turbo models for a LONG time, ever since the Forester was unceremoniously deleted from the old SEVS list over 15 years ago (after initially being approved and a handful imported).

We are now very close to being able to import the Forester to Australia on demand but we still have a few more months to wait as inclusion in this list is just the first step to importing one of these vehicles – a compliance package must now be approved and a ‘sample’ vehicle imported before mainstream import becomes possible.

This process typically takes another 3 to 6 months after the initial model approval and needs to be managed by an approved compliance workshop.
